Ramblings of my curious mind

Curious Girl With Curious Mind

Fabio Dabori, a Brazilian industrial designer, took one look at the electric toothbrush and put his own spin on it. Called the Giro Sponge toothbrush, this electric toothbrush does not use bristles for the brush heads. Instead, the brush heads are replaced with a small sponge of similar size.

If you’ve read the manual on one of these electric toothbrushes with bristles, it does say that initial use of this device can cause bleeding but that it should stop within a few days as gum tissue adjusts to the new method of cleaning.

Fabio is targeting the sale of his Giro Sponge Toothbrush to people with sensitive teeth, such as babies, children and even seniors. He’s not just stopping with the human race but also believes this may be a good toothbrush for the family pet.

I’ve seen a few studies that rave about the benefits of an electric toothbrush and how they improve oral hygiene over just using a manual toothbrush. I would believe that the benefit of the bristles is that they can get in between your teeth and under your gum line.

I just question whether a sponge toothbrush would be as effective in oral hygiene and more importantly, would 4 out of 5 dentists recommend the Giro Sponge toothbrush?
